Insurance marketing: 2 tips to meet your community

Do some speaking gigs. It can be a little daunting to get in front of a bunch of people and talk. In fact, it’s the thing people say they’re most afraid of. But you do it every day. You present yourself to customers as simply a matter of course in your insurance marketing.

Getting in front of a crowd of people at a luncheon or a Rotary Club meeting to talk about how business is changing or to give the attendees some insurance tips is no different. The audience may be larger, sure, but the art of presentation remains the same.

Stay confident, keep your sense of humor and stay loose. That’s it. Do those things and you’ll impress everyone in that room.

Organize some lunch meet-ups. Many networking activities have to do with you seeking out other people as part of your insurance marketing.

But you can do just as much by gathering people together. Who? Other agents within your company, if you’re a captive agent. If you’re an independent agent, other such agents in your area. Or maybe people who work in the industries related to the type of insurance you sell.

For instance, if you sell car insurance, maybe you could gather together local car dealers and mechanics to talk about a safety campaign.

Or if you’re in the health insurance industry, maybe you could get together doctors, nurses and other practitioners to talk about the effects of insurance reform.

Whatever group you bring together, you’ll prove you have the initiative to get people into a room to talk out solutions to big problems.
